Journalist, writer, photographer, and artist living in a small town in rural Ontario, Canada.

I drifted into journalism 25 years ago when a career writing fiction seemed impossible, then fell into the editor and management stream when options for advancement dwindled at small community newspapers. Photography has always been a bit of a sideline, but lately I've turned to drawing and painting as creative outlets. Art is what I like to do; photography is the job.

I took classes at the Elora Centre for the Arts and plunged with some nervousness into the Wednesday figure drawing drop-in group in 2009, and later the Sunday morning figure group, gravitating to using ballpoint pen. Perhaps that developed from all the myriad of designs, strange landscapes and surreal figures that crept across the margins of school notebooks and later, meeting agenda sheets. As a writer, I always had pens available, but seldom pencils.

I've had a few short science fiction stories published over the years - my news and feature writing is published weekly in the local community paper. My art has been shown in the Harris Collective at the Elora Centre for the Arts, and the "Art in Public Places" program at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.
