La mia passione fotografica, e in un certo senso anche la mia vita, si possono tratteggiare con idee schopenhaueriane: da un lato la volontà, il desiderio incessante, che sempre vorrebbe e vorrebbe sempre altro, diventando infine causa di frustrazione e dolore, dolore che si attenua nel momento del soddisfacimento ma che subito si riattualizza per l'emergere in una nuova veste, magari pure poco dissimile dalla precedente, del desiderio; dall'altro lato le forme della negazione delle voluntas, l'ascesi e l'arte; l'ascesi non fa per me - o forse non fa per me del tutto, o forse fa talmente per me che per molti versi sono ascetico senza accorgermene -, l'arte consiste nella contemplazione del bello (questa è di Schopenhauer), il bello è ciò che ci viene da fermarci a contemplare (questa è mia). Io non sono un artista, in me il desiderio è presente, e forte, ma è combinato in una continua dialettica con la contemplazione: una fotografia, o uno screenshot ai giri in bici che ho fatto, il fermarmi lì a guardare sono il momento contemplativo, la momentanea messa in pausa del desiderio, il tempo in cui mi godo il bello che ho desiderato
