Lou Costa (1937-2021) was a long-time Fox Point (Providence, Rhode island) resident and local historian. He created the Fox Point Photo History project in 2008. He was helped in his efforts by a number of people including Professor Annie Valk of Brown University's Center for Public Humanities and her graduate students as well as his Fox Point friends, Phyllis Pacheco and Johnny and Ernie Costa (no relation).

The Flickr project includes photographs from Lou’s collections as well as images contributed by others in the community. While the bulk of the images and clippings are from Lou’s collection, he encouraged others to add their photographs to the site. Lou actively welcomed comments and photo tags from people who live in or had lived in Fox Point or had friends and family in the neighborhood. While the site will continue to be available to view images and make comments, please understand that following Lou’s passing in 2021 the site has not been actively maintained.

Lou donated his physical collection of Fox Point photographs and other archival materials to the Providence Public Library in 2016 where they are accessible to the public. You can learn more about his collection by reviewing this finding aid: www.provlib.org/wp-content/uploads/finding-aids/044-03-FA....
