ME

I live in the country-side outside Stockholm in Sweden and love everything that has to do with nature. Living here with me most of the time is my fiancé, PerPer, and a few of the pix you see in my stream are taken by him (usually the ones of me) and there is a number of great photos of him interacting with the dogs (my girrrls). He is also the owner of Ganyi (the Basenji) or, more correctly, she is his owner - she adopted him. LOL!

Nowadays I'm not working, but staying home (muscular disorder) with my four dogs (3 Pharaoh Hounds and 1 Basenji) and one cat. As you can guess I like animals; frogs, cats and dogs mainly, but all animals are interesting. I also breed Pharaoh Hounds - Kennel Puressence.

Updated 2012 - Today I still have 3 Pharaoh Hounds, the basenji has died and the Pharaohs are not all the same, Rosa died a few months before Ganyi. We then adopted Poni, a happy Podenco boy from Spain, where he was rescued when he was just alittle puppy. I did fetch him in Switzerland though, when he was 1½ year old. He loves to hunt and bark at birds. This has given him the name Sir Poni Barksalot ;) Last year we got ourselves a new Pharaoh too, a puppy called Tassa (Antefa's Verona) and as all my other Pharaohs, she has my first Pharaoh, Joppedi, in her pedigree. She is a mental but cuddly girl with a lot of energy and an inbuilt bulldozer mode. Right now we are in the middle of building a new fence, since the old one wasn't sturdy enough when you get a bulldozer puppy in the house ;)

I have studied (and still do in a small scale) biology (mainly), languages and other stuff at university. My main area was in Systematic Botany i. e. looking at how plants are related.

I'm also into all Nature-stuff, Plants, Music, Languages, Old-Norse (Islandic) Sagas, Runes and Old Swedish/Norse, History, Reading, Watching films - mainly Sci-Fi & Horror.

I spend a lot of time working with my dogs and in the garden. OMG, I sound awfully boring... Probably am too :). No, really, I´m a happy person with some kind of sick humour. I can't believe it - I forgot to mention that I am a great sports-fan.

I feel strongly about the unfairness when it comes to the distribution of the worlds resources and used to work in HIV - AIDS prevention, an issue that is very important for me!

PHOTOGRAPHY

Obviously I like taking photos - an old hobby that I've taken up again. I've only had my digital camera since June 2006 - an OLYMPUS FE-115 (I'll buy a better one if my interest continues), but there has been an abrupt increase in the amount of photos I take :). It was actually this flickr-stuff that got me back into it - so thank you all for all the encouragement you've been given me.

Flower photos have I been taking for ages, but only as a complement to my properly collected plants. It's only lately I've been trying to add more than just detail and botanical correctness to the pix and it'll take me a lot of time to get out of that habit... :)

My dog pix are all at the spur of the moment - as always, and I guess it'll stay that way. They are memories of special moments to me. The only departure from that are my photos of show-dogs (the stacked ones) and they are, on the other hand, very well planned. When you take that kind of pix you have to be able to tell the handler if you see something that needs correction. And I'm quite alright at it.

MY FLICKR LIFE

Anyone who knows me just a little bit here, knows that I'm a member in a lot of groups and that I send my pix to many of them. Why?? Because all the stuff on my pix are things I feel strongly about, one way or the other, and I want to show them to as many as possible. My dogs - I want people to see their personalities and beauty. My flowers - I want people to see their beauty and show that they are around for them to add to their gardens or just to enjoy. And if it's possible - I want to spread some laughter around too. Laugh at me or with me, I don't care, as long as you laugh!!

Since my photos often are not as good as I wish they would be (newbie) I usually put down quite a bit of information about the objects on them and sometimes the story behind them. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the stuff on them really mean something to me. I figure that if you're not interested you can just ignore my rantings. The same obviously applies to this page, LOL!

The treatment of my photos are some cropping and sometimes I might alter lighting or contrast a little - that's all. Maybe I've just not found the greatness of ps and other stuff yet, but that's how things are at the moment.

Like Great bokeh and DoF, nature, animals, plants, colourful stuff, green, minerals, things that glitter (I'm a magpie).

Like less Photo-Shop and most other alterations of pix from (what I consider) their natural state, b/w, sepia, towns, buildings, cars, machinery and - sorry - people (I mean pix of them, LOL).

My friends here are also very important, but I guess you all know that already even if I don't have the time to drop by as often as I would like.

I've started two groups here, both about dogs and you are all very welcome. They are

I'm also co-admin in some groups.

Fotrristi is one of my personal favorite Flickr members. Her photos are sensational, and range from many techniques and styles. Her photos of her Pharaoh Hound's and flowers are something I have the pleasure to comment on everyday. Most of her flower photos are of flowers I have never seen in my entire life. That includes 'Crown Princess 'Crown Princess Margarethe' and the 'Pat Austin.' I don't think I've ever seen a collection of flowers so sweet and delicate. Fotrristi's photos of her beautiful Hounds are of the best I've seen. I am honored to write this testimonial as well as always enjoy her photos. To a job well done, Genesis Dearest
