{ Deutsch unten! } Photography from the 1980s on. Starting in 1999/2000 also digital. Since 2003 studies and work as a designer. Many interests, in the last few years mostly landscape and nature. Recently experimental and infrared photography. Theory, craft, art and history play a role, too. My aim is to balance content and emotion, the artistic-side, the formal „gestalt“, and the practical and technical aspects of photography – which is challangeing, but fun! And yes, I also like to shoot film a lot, again.

I'm not at all a purist and don't like dogmas. Thus I likely don't fit in a box very well. I use old lenses, but on high resolution bodys and use up to date software and computers. I like optical effects better than digital ones. I shoot film with old analog cameras. But I don't like chemistry, so no own darkroom, but commercial lab processing, home scanning and than the digital route. I retouch and process, sometimes heavily, but no AI and no compositing. (Except real experiments.) I like physical prints on paper, but prefer C-prints from the lab, so I don't print them myself.

I am, like others, also a gearhead. In my case it’s old stuff I love. I use vintage lenses for 99% of my work. I just don’t like this very perfect, digital look. My collection is far too big. I have „all“ the classic Minolta SR lenses as well as 1st generation Minolta AF ones. Also I got a smaller set of Konica AR lenses. Some exotic stuff additionally. Nothing of it is expensive, or at least it wasn’t for me, as I got this long ago, before the vintage hype.

Fotografie seit den 1980er Jahren. Von 1999/2000 an auch digital. Beginnend 2003 Ausbildung und Tätigkeit im gestalterischen Bereich. Viele Interessen, in den letzten Jahren Schwerpunkt auf Landschaft und Natur. Neuerdings Beschäftigung mit Infrarot und experimenteller Fotografie. Theorie, Technik, Kunst und Geschichte kommen dazu. Die Balance zwischen Inhalt, emotional-künstlerischem Anspruch, formal-bildnerischer Gestaltung und praktisch-technischer Ausführung ist für mich bei der Fotografie die reizvolle Herausforderung. Und ja, ich fotografiere inzwischen wieder gerne mit Film.

Ich bin überhaupt kein Purist und ich mag keine Dogmen. Daher passe ich wahrscheinlich nicht gut in eine Schublade. Ich benutze alte Objektive, aber an hochauflösenden Kameras und ich nutze moderne Software und Computer. Ich mag optische Effekte mehr als digitale. Ich fotografiere analogen Film mit alten Kameras. Aber ich mag die Chemie nicht, daher keine eigene Dunkelkammer, sondern Entwicklung durch ein Fotolabor. Dann selbst scannen und es geht digital weiter. Ich retuschiere und bearbeite, auch mal stark, aber keine KI und keine Montagen. (Ausgenommen echte Experimente.) Ich mag richtige Papierfotos, aber bevorzuge Ausbelichtungen aus dem Labor, daher drucke ich nicht selbst.

Nichts davon ist teuer, d.h. zumindest nicht für mich, denn ich habe alles lange vor dem Hype um Vintage Technik gekauft.
