About the artist:
Canadian born Allan Forrest studied at the Ottawa School of Art and, after a short time, moved to NYC to pursue an art career. He started as a furniture refinisher at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, and later moved on to artwork for a children's clothing manufacturer. After being exposed to faux bois (fake wood) restoration at the Ritz Carlton, he began to collect as many books as he could find about faux finishing.
In 1990, Allan Forrest and his wife Karen moved to England, where he worked with a plaster company painting marble and wood insets. Meanwhile, he also entered his fine art pencil drawings in the Royal Academy of Art in London, which received the Honorable Mention Category.
After returning to Baltimore, Maryland in 1992, Allan Forrest began working for Valley Craftsman, embarking on the exploding market of faux finishes and murals.
Establishing his own company (Forrest Art Studio) in 1993, Allan has been going strong on a referral only basis.
