Barry Francis qualified as a state registered podiatrist at the London Foot Hospital, University of Westminster. He was a founder member of the Podiatry Association, which was probably responsible for the practice of podiatric surgery in the UK today. Mr Francis practices within the NHS as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Herts & Essex Hospital. He served as a podiatrist to the British Olympic teams in 1984 and 1988, accompanying them to Los Angeles and Seoul. He also served as podiatrist to the English team at the Commonwealth Games in 1986. Mr Francis was for some years a podiatric consultant to the LTA, working closely on the Rover Junior Players programme.
