I am a professional photographer from Fairview, Oregon, specializing in landscape, architecture, and sometimes quirky imagery. I am looking to work more with models. I work with both film and digital formats. I'm still regrouping after my move back into the Portland area, so I have no exhibits running currently.
I am working on getting some of my backlog of images scanned into the computer and placed onto this site. Stay tuned for more stuff. New images will be added as well.
Film is an expressive medium. I prefer the slow zen of long exposures and building an image in the darkroom. I suppose that if film ceased to exist, I would have to coat my own glass plates. Until late 2015, I did no digital capture. When I moved to Hood River (and later back to the Portland area), I did not have a darkroom, so I picked up a used Nikon D300 as a travel camera. I upgraded to a D810 in September 2017, just in time for the Eagle Creek fire. I'm happy to say that I have built a new darkroom as of June 2022, and am developing and printing the old fashioned way once again.

I met Gary through Flickr some years ago and since then we've become good friends. We live close enough that we can sometimes take photo excursions together. Gary is a wealth of information on all aspects of film photography. I started out shooting digital and slowly over time and no doubt due to his influence I've slowly added film to my photography media. His approach to taking pictures is worth studying. See, learn and enjoy his work.

His photos show his unique perspective on Oregon's landscape and is able to capture what others can't. I really enjoy Gary's nocturnal images and draw much inspiration from them, as I'm sure many others do as well. I look forward to seeing what Gary will come up with next as he pushes the envelope. A real treasure for the Portland art scene.

I actually was just going to write that I think his pictures are awesome, but I know that he is starting to grow a little work as a photographer and thought I would let anyone that was considering using him know that they will be glad they did. That isn’t something I say about just anyone, that you can trust him, but I do and will about Gary. I can honestly say that I don’t know anyone that has as detailed a knowledge and passion for photography and the equipment used or for the technical and artistic methods of it as he does. Gary is a great guy, smart, funny and gifted. I am lucky enough to have known him for some years now at our regular job. I think his pictures are really great and I know for a fact that he is honest and thoughtful in his business dealings. So, there you go my honest and true opinion. I did talk him into using flicker and I am glad I did since I get to look at his work whenever I like and write stuff about it. Jeff
