Drag to set position!
Aldinga Scrub's significance has been long recognised and after scientific assessments dating from 1969, the area was gazetted as a Conservation Park in 1985.
Friends of Aldinga Scrub was formed in Novermber 1987 to work on preserving the integrity and well being of then named Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park.
On 21 January, 2022, Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park was extended to include Aldinga Washpool and proclaimed a new conservation park renamed Aldinga Conservation Park.
Aldinga Conservation Park is recognised as a significant area for the conservation and protection of the region’s flora and fauna.
The park is of considerable spiritual and cultural significance to the Kaurna people who today maintain their connection with Country. A new name recognising that significance - Wangkuntila-Aldinga Conservation Park was proclaimed and the addition of further land parcels in the Washpool area occurred in August 2025.
Wangkuntila-Aldinga Conservation Park is the last remaining example of various linked plant associations in a coastal scrubland within the wider Adelaide area in South Australia. This wide and varied collection of photos is intended as a documentary of observations and activities in Wangkuntila-Aldinga Conservation Park. It is collated from the community of Friends of Wangkuntila-Aldinga Conservation Park and showcases that significant biodiversity and membership commitment to it over time.
