I own too many cameras. Old ones. Film cameras. I almost never am without one or two or three in my pockets or bag or over my shoulder. I take pictures sometimes without much forethought. I guess at exposures ("Uh, let's see, that's like three stops down from f/16 at the film speed..."). I sometimes rely on rangefinders for distance, but most often don't. I like photographs that have something wrong with them. I used to have a darkroom but since about 2002 I have hardly developed any film myself; mostly I scan the negatives and treat my pictures with software. But . . . darkroom = software = darkroom. Unless otherwise stated, you can be sure I've done something digitally to every picture.

More recently, in 2014, I started developing my own film again and, around the same time, I started carrying a digital camera with me everywhere! Gasp.

I live on the island Newfoundland, at the far east of the country Canada. I taught in a university until I retired in 2017. I turned fifteen in 1967. I've been gone geeze a long time, but I'm a-wallowin' in the geeze nowadays.

If you want to use a picture of mine, ask. Ask me. That's the first step in copyright clearance.

Portraits of friends, family & colleagues; pictures of urban life & rugged coast are all handled with a subtle sprinkling of something magical (often silver halide!) For Felip's passion is for the use of outdated film stock on a variety of rangefinder cameras. He will then experiment with varying degrees of post processing to give his work such a singular feel. He uses PaintShopPro's Clarify filter which I also love & Picassa to great effect. He carries this off with much warmth & wisdom. He is someone who will not shy away from suggesting improvements to my work. May you live long & prosper!
