Fire photography is one of the oldest forms of photojournalism. Images of buildings ablaze have anchored the front page of newspapers since the late 1800's. In fact, Thomas Edison's first motion picture dealt with the life of firemen. Those who photograph images of the beast are a special breed, because they not only need to understand photo equipment and techniques, but they also need to possess a strong working knowledge of firefighting itself.
