Modern day mystic.

Old-fashioned cynic.

I look for the magic in the ordinary.

When given the option, I tend to shoot interesting patches of light or colour, rather than concentrating on objects. That's what turns my propeller. Your tastes may vary.

Sometimes I have a definite theme in mind when I take a picture, but I will not allude to it, save for perhaps a hint in the title. It's fun to see who gets it right away. A kindred spirit is found.

I tend to be obsessive about all of my projects and sometimes this can leave me absent from Flickr for weeks or sometimes months. I usually return refreshed and full of ideas.

I enjoy post-processing.

In the words of Ansel Adams:

"The negative is the equivalent of the composer's score, and the print the performance."

That just about sums it up for me. Sometimes I will do wildly different takes on a photo and then upload the one that suits my mood at the moment.

Because it's too awkward for many of you to ask: yes, the cancer has spread and it is no longer curable. But I still look forward to your comments on my photos. So don't be bashful :)

John... ...there...on his Profile...he says he is an "old fashioned cynic". I don´t believe that, because as far as I know John, he is incredibly sensitive, always extremely interested in everything...sometimes making me feel as really being a "photographer" already and I know that there´s still a long way to go. His comments make me stop...to pay attention, as he always has something special to say...in his very "quiet" way. It is absolutely worth it to spend some time on this beautiful photostream, admiring wonders in Nature, through John´s eyes and lenses. John, you are a great human and your work says it all. I am happy to have you as a friend here on Flickr. Thank you so much for every single word of encouragement, for so many compliments and for your always elegant and pleasant presence. Your brazilian friend, Petra :))
