11/1/2007 Dormant no more! I've decided that I love Flickr.

My story regarding photography is basically that I had a nice 35mm SLR setup many years ago, with several lenses, nice flash unit and lights. I took a couple basic classes, and then all my equipment disappeared one day. I was very bitter about this and basically stayed out of photography until recently.

I now have a Nikon D40x digital SLR with a couple of lenses, and I'm happily trying to catch up from all the lost years. I have a long way to go in building my photography skills, and I'm glad to have Flickr and the Flickr community to help me along.

I'm using Flickr both to showcase my attempts to evolve as an amateur photographer, getting feedback from other photographers in the Flickr community, and also to share photos of events with family and friends. Collections for the latter purpose will be posted regardless of their photographic merit, but I'm happy to get comments and criticism, technical or otherwise, on those too.

I'm currently participating in Flickr's 365 Days group. Committing to taking a self-portrait every day for a year forces me to keep my camera handy, suddenly making photography possible for so many other types of spontaneous shots.
