I am an educator. I live in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada but I try to spend summers in Coimbra, Portugal.

 

I don't have much to say about my photographs. If some people enjoy them, I'm happy. I use film and I develop both b&w and colour myself. I like looking at photographs in my hands so I do make prints.

 

I use flickr primarily to share photographs with family and friends. My flickr stream is not intended to be a portfolio. The photographs are, more or less, in chronological order as I develop and scan them. This method of organization is far from ideal unfortunately.

 

I use a number of different cameras and formats but I prefer my Leica. I'm inspired by the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, André Kertész, Saul Leiter, Marie Cosindas, Robert Adams and many others who have searched for beauty and found it consistently.

In the short time I've "known" Fernando (we share an interest in unique and vintage automobiles), I have become amazed at the beauty in his photographs. The black and white format he uses gives the pictures such a warm, calming glow. The people, expressions, and feelings conveyed in his work are all very special, and I feel like I'm in another world when I see them.
