I have been admiring your photographs and poems for some years now. And with each passing day, your art only gets better. Greetings from Brazil.

During the few years that I've known Steve, he has been the silent teacher. At first, I tried hard to figure out what he had around and within him that gave him the ability to evoke such unspoken grace and beauty. I soon learned that it's not necessarily as important to comprehend such things as it is to simply perceive them. I now know that understanding often comes after, and it is health to the bones. Day after day, I would check in to see his pictures--watching his life blossom in spring, bask in summer sun, wilt like an oak in autumn and stand frigid in winter, as if through a spyglass across thousands of miles of ocean. I witnessed his depression, redemption, joy, marriage, heartache, loneliness and poetic integrity for months on end. And in a strange, inexplicable way I felt as though I had been a part of it--as if I could testify his revelation because of its successive impact on my own life. Steve's photography penetrates deeper than any other collection I have come across here. Unlike so many others, his regard for honesty and innocence is momentous. He is more than a man in photos, because his well never runs dry for those who ask for water. If you question, he will answer. If you fall to your knees, he will fall with you--holding tight and reminding you of who you are and the weight of your existence. Steve will never stop taking photographs. It's like breathing to him. If a man doesn't do what he's good at, what then is he doing? He has taught me more about life and love and hope than any other human being I know. He's the big brother I never had, and I care dearly for him and his wife, Susy. I hope they are full and rich with love for wholesomeness all their lives. I love them as if I had known them since childhood. I look forward to witnessing his ever-evolving spirit more and more. Hold fast, my friend. Naomi

some people may be daunted by his over 6,000 photographs roaming about here, but it's been my greatest pleasure to witness the growth of them. he is my greatest inspiration; mainly because his photographs have a solemn truth to them that is almost impossible to come by. so very humble with his wise, eloquent words; i have never stopped being amazed by the beauty and simple pleasures steve can show us, and i hope any who read this feel the same. he is a phenomenal artist, and an even more phenomenal being. thank you.
Read lesshis photos have a slow silence to them, a deep honesty, a strong truth, they are life and death and nature and humanity one of the most powerful photographers i've encountered on flickr. thanks for letting us see into your soul a little bit
you know there's something special about a person's photostream when it can make you tear up. there's a story here within these photos and poems. it's heavy and it means a lot, although sometimes the meaning is unclear, but that does not take away from the heaviness. no, not at all. just listen. it's special. … Read more
you know there's something special about a person's photostream when it can make you tear up. there's a story here within these photos and poems. it's heavy and it means a lot, although sometimes the meaning is unclear, but that does not take away from the heaviness. no, not at all. just listen. it's special. all of the the delicate things we ponder over that somehow magically string us together at times - i can hear them here, and it's very, very special.
Read lessTruly inspirational, beautiful, and meaningful photography. I feel as if Steve's photos all have this thing about them. I don't know what it is, but it's very magical. It makes the dirtiest things in the world the most pure, fantastic things. He owns one of the very best photostreams on this website.
For me, it's that moment when I'm in class and I suddenly stop listening or writing. It's that moment when I'm drinking a cup of coffee and the entire world falls silent. It's when I have a bad day and I walk to the lake just to see and listen to everything live. It's in these moments that I realize that I exist. This… Read more
For me, it's that moment when I'm in class and I suddenly stop listening or writing. It's that moment when I'm drinking a cup of coffee and the entire world falls silent. It's when I have a bad day and I walk to the lake just to see and listen to everything live. It's in these moments that I realize that I exist. This is it. It's being at peace with your surroundings. Berserker's work reminds me to appreciate my existence. To appreciate my freedom of thought. To appreciate my hands and the puddles of water that reflect my toes and my eyes. That reflect everything through their existence. His stream is like watching your breath in the cold and feeling your sweat in the sun. His work brings back the most beautiful memories and makes me want to question everything that I've been predisposed to believe. He captures the complexity in the things that I take for granted. Berserker is one of my biggest inspirations and one of the photographers that I admire most on flickr. His work is real in ways that this language could never describe.
Read lessI was blown away when I discovered your photostream. I honestly had to fight the urge to favorite every single picture. Your work is amazing; so simplistic yet incredibly brilliant.
From a stranger to a friend in minutes. He will open up through words, through pictures in a way most are too hesitant to do. His brain is set straight, in a not-straight-at-all way. Learn him.
