FERLINKA BORZOI is home to 9 very busy dogs!

Myka Quiero Ferlinka Myka CGC and Tahnka Tahnka - Pet Fashion Week - designer: "American Pup"

hail from the Quiero Borzoi kennel in lovely Uxbridge, Ontario and were bred by Karen Fasciano.

Moto Abidjan's Q Lada Vaz Ferlinka SC and Solara Solara coursing - JC run

are from the Abidjan Borzoi kennel in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, and they were bred by Cathy Nasierowski.

We had a second litter here at Ferlinka in 2006 and Myrra Myrra ,

Kotov Kotov doing agility a little differently and Goguy Goguy (Ferlinka's Gordislav) remained here.

Kyaa being silly is a rescue dog -

one of several we got from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

A natural born therapy dog, and angel on earth, little Harley Harley - here to stay! :) , another rescue, had been terribly abused and neglected. She came into our lives when mom became very ill and could no longer do much, so she was blessed with a little brown dog who never left her side. Mom passed on in March of 2007 and after that she became my Dad's constant companion until he passed in July of 2008. I believe Harley was meant to come into our lives when she did and she provided endless comfort to my parents.

Tahnka, Mychtar and me

Borzoi were bred for hundreds of years by Russian nobility. They were developed by crossing the Arabian Greyhound with longer haired Russian sheepdogs. The dogs were called Russian Wolfhounds in America up until 1936 when the name was changed to "Borzoi", coming from a Russian word 'borzii' which means swift. Fierce on the hunt, this sight hound was used for hundreds of years to hunt wolves, fox and hare in the open plains of Russia. As the breed became more popular it was used more and more as a companion dog and its temperament became more docile.
