I’m a professional Dutch photographer based in Lienz, Austria. I frequently stay in Zürich and Ticino in Switzerland and in the Achterhoek in the Netherlands. From these locations, I travel throughout the Austrian, Swiss, Italian and French Alps.

I grew up in an artistic family and spent much of my childhood painting and drawing with my mother’s art materials. At the age of nine, I experienced the mountains for the first time during a holiday in the Swiss canton of Ticino and immediately fell in love with them. One year later, I received my first camera and became fascinated by capturing landscapes and searching for the perfect composition, colours and light.

Over time, photography, and mountain photography in particula, became my greatest passion. It eventually led me to move from the flat Netherlands to the mountains of East Tyrol.

Today, I regularly bivouac alone at altitudes of around 3,000 metres, sleeping beneath the stars to photograph sunsets and sunrises or staying awake to capture the Milky Way. I follow changing weather conditions, venture onto and inside glaciers to document their fragile and rapidly disappearing beauty, and explore both vast alpine landscapes and the abstract details hidden within them.

Every trip is an adventure. I never know exactly what I will encounter: clouds, sunlight, rain, thunderstorms, rockfall, wildlife or an unexpected meeting with an interesting person. In mountain photography, you rarely return with exactly the images you had imagined. Often, you find something entirely differen... and perhaps it is precisely these surprises that keep drawing me back to the mountains.

My work has been exhibited internationally, including in Zürich, Geneva, Innsbruck, Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Cologne and Amsterdam. My long-term glacier project has been selected for the Chamonix Photo Festival in October 2026 and will subsequently be presented at Photo+Adventure Vienna in November 2026.

The project has received several international distinctions. In 2026, Deep Inside the Glacier won first prize in Life Framer’s Planet Earth competition and first prize in the Zoom.nl Edited Photography competition. My glacier reportage Blauw dat niet blijft received second place in the Professional Editorial/Press–Environmental category of the International Photography Awards 2026. The same competition awarded Honorable Mentions to my glacier exhibition catalogue and three individual photographs. My mountain photography previously received the overall title in the ÖVF and PhotoSuisse Berge 2025 competition.

Alongside mountain and landscape photography, I specialise in portrait and pet photography. I combine landscapes and portraiture by photographing couples and newlyweds in the mountains, capturing personal moments within spectacular alpine surroundings. During winter, I photograph sled-dog races and equestrian events, including the famous White Turf horse races on the frozen lake of St. Moritz.

I’m a CEWE Ambassador. CEWE prints my photographs on high-quality materials for my exhibitions and festival presentations throughout Europe.

As a NEMO Equipment ambassador, I use the company’s high-quality outdoor gear during my bivouacs and camping trips. I particularly value NEMO’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and protecting the natural world on which all our outdoor adventures depend.
