Remember in old movies when telephones went directly to operators and you would say the name. Nowadays if you feel the urge to dial zero and say a name the disgruntled operator would run a query yielding thousands of results on their terminal. Thousands of people with identical names, identical nicknames, perhaps identical lives. Even if we eliminated names and instead used precise medical terminology to describe our supposedly unique psyche the operator would still be as disgruntled. We are snowflakes, no two are quite the same, and unless you put the snowflake under a microscope you will never know that.
Photography is something of a hobby to me. Perhaps an unhealthy one. When I take out my camera I have to worry about fines, tickets, exposure to asbestos, serial killers, and structurally unsound overpasses. The uncertainty is what I crave. The photos are an added bonus.
I guess I am at the stage in my life where I have to decide what to do. Possibly dive a little more into photography. Perhaps become a jazz composer. Maybe a writer. I have realized that if you do anything in life for the money, you will spend your life doing nothing for the money.
