The equipment is important, of course, but after looking at some of the amazing work here I realized that it's not as crucial as experience, careful planning, and technique. That's what I admire most in other peoples' work, and it's what I'm trying to accomplish in my photos.
As far as contacts go, I will gladly add you if your photography is interesting, sincere, thoughtful, creative, etc. Commentary, faving, and group invites are fine, I appreciate them! A regular presence and contribution is important too. I'm on Flickr to learn Photography, and I don't have a lot of patience for porn and trash. And of course, please respect my photostream:

One of Faizal's great, great photographic qualities is the ability to watch and critique. From all the comments I get in my pictures none, not even those that come from critiquing groups members, nail so well the essence of a picture like Faizal does and expressed in a most eloquent way, particularly when it concerns aesthetic values like composition and colors. Faizal, I'm proud of having you as a flickr friend. Faizal's pictures, now getting close to two hundred, express his aesthetic sense and taste, with the added benefit of coming from Japan, a distant region that notwithstanding being the hometown of so many top photographic brands doesn't show up much here. Through his photos and captions Faizal has made a most interesting documentary about a foreigner's experience living abroad, learning and enjoying new cultural and aesthetic values.
