Hi!

My name is Cathy and I'm a member of Flickr's "BLIND PHOTOGRAPHERS", and yes, I am legally blind, but usually forget, hence the username EYZWIDESHUT. I try to visit there regularly (It's my Homepage :) and all my photos are tagged with this group name, so I thought I would mention it to avoid any misunderstanding (I'm fairly new to Flickr as well).

I do have some half decent vision in one eye, well, at least if it is a few feet in front of me, but no peripheral vision - what I call "Toilet Paper Roll Vision" - just look through one, and you will see what I see ;) I also have double vision, which I wear glasses with prisms in it to help keep my eyes in line, but it doesn't help as much as I'd like it to, and the double gets worse when I am tired.

Still...it could be worse, so I am grateful for what I do have.

I would value any constructive critism that would help me take better pictures - REALLY!!

I have no training in photography except for a high school course on darkroom techniques, but I have always loved taking pictures, the subjects have just changed as my health and vision have (no more jumping horses :(

I live in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and we have boundless beauty when it comes to nature and all its' glory. I am a passionate gardener now, but am also new to this hobby, so if I put up a photo of a flower and cannot name it, please jump in and comment to clear-up the mystery.

I hope to learn from the other photographers and their work, and hope I can ask the odd question and not sound too lame. I am trying my hand at anything and everything, but am limited to my photo opps (they just wonèt let me drive anymore), so sometimes I will only have my immediate suroundings to work with.

My Guide Dog Mindy is always with me when I take pictures and you can see here in my DOG set, though she does pop up in the oddest places sometimes.

I am currently shooting with a Canon EOS XSI 450D, which I have only had since January of 2009, and using Corels' Paint Shop Pro X2 Ultimate, both of which I need some time with a good tutorial to learn how to use properly and effectively, but I do try!
