my gear:

(not because I'm a gear snob, just listing this so you know what I use to get the portraits I'm getting)

- Canon 5D (recently upgraded from the Canon 40D)

- Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro

- Canon 50mm 1.4

- Canon 20mm 2.8

- Canon 430ex Speedlight

- Alienbee Cybersyncs (to trigger my wireless flash)

- Reflector (only really use it for newborn sessions), monopod, tripod, beat up umbrella, all the regular stuff

I used to have the Canon 200mm 2.8 L ... boy I miss that lens. But the 100mm 2.8 Macro suits my needs better right now, especially since I'm using a crop sensor camera.

software stuff:

- Adobe PS CS5

- For raw processing I use DPP (the software that comes with Canon cameras, love it!)

- Noiseware for noise removal

- Actions I created for myself that speed up my editing time

- I also use a texture from Michelle Black, there is one she created that is Perfect!

When I don't use it for 'texture' I blur it and use it for a sort of vignette in Overlay mode.
