::my journal::

Started shooting with Olympus (little silver consumer) camera back in the summer of 2008. Then, six months later upgraded to Nikon D40 kit. After another six months learned my way up to Nikon D200 and 24-120mm lens. Realized that 24-120 does not suite me and sold it some time later and bought few other lenses including 50mm f/1.8 and 28-80mm f/3.3-5-6 ($58 brand new) one of the best lenses - no kidding. My work turned its way to do lots of model work - mostly portraits. Now I am working my self up to purchase a 135mm DC f/2 lens and maybe a D700 in the near future, but that is still open for debates since it is the photographer and lens that do the job - not the camera.

It is summer 2010 and my gear is updated. I have upgraded to D300s while keeping my D200 as a second camera. I've also purchased Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR and working on getting a Nikon 10-24mm as I have worked with it and liked how wide and amazing it is. Hopefully by the next profile update I will have it. And maybe sometime in the future I'll have enough money to purchase a D3.

It is autumn 2011 and I have purchased a 10-24mm lens (autumn 2010) and sold it after a year along with my D300s to acquire a D3. Now I have D3 and planning to get 14-24mm within next 4 months. I have become a wedding photographer and now have my own website running at www.sergiovassio.com. I am also working on my next project to put another wedding company on the web. Also, I have attended few wedding expos with my name on it. Next big thing is to promote my facebook with ads. My company has an ad in The Knot and Weddings magazines.

Dec.10,2011. Times fly, and I am keeping this journal running. I have acquired another domain and now I am running two websites with photography. One is www.sergiovassio.com and www.cliquewedding.com. I have changed my plans about 14-24mm lens and gearing towards 17-35mm as it has more uses for me. Since the day I acquired my D3 (Oct. 2011) - I have been using Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens in almost all my work. I have few other lenses including Nikon 70-200 VR, Nikon 35mm DX (for my D200) and 17mm Tokina lens along with few other everyday lenses under $100. As I found that 50mm 1.8 is very versatile and my favorite lens. I'll keep using it until I'll acquire Nikon 17-35mm or maybe Nikon 18-35mm. But I'll sure to keep writing.

July 7, 2012. Purchased D3 and got rid of DX cameras and purchased Nikon 20-35mm 2.8. Now gearing towards 105mm 2.8 for portrait work and macro shots. I am involved into wedding photography more than ever and received twice as more clients as last year. My ad campaigns on google are really working. I visit expo shows during winter and spring for more exposure. I'll keep writing more.

August 7, 2015. It has been a little while since I have updated my profile and quite a few things have changed since my last update. I got rid of my 70-200mm f/2.8 and purchased 85mm f/1.8 D and 135mm f/2.8 Ai. Decided I needed a smaller camera and purchased a D40x. So, today my gear includes, D3, D40x, all Nikon lenses - 35mm 1.8 DX, 135mm 2.8 Ai (in love with this prime), 85mm 1.8 D, 50mm 1.8, 20-35mm 2.8. I am still working as a wedding photographer plus portraits and family shots along with kids. Contemplating of acquiring a 14-24mm 2.8 G for my landscape work.

I came to a point where I began working with primes only (except 20-35) which I use for my indoor wedding shots, although, I must say that I grow quite fund of using 50mm and 85mm for wedding shots. Nonetheless, 20-35mm is a great lens for wide shots.

Hope I give an update soon. Chao.
