Explain That Stuff
Drag to set position!
Explainthatstuff is a website featuring around 450 FREE, easy-to-understand science, technology, and how-it-works articles for the whole family.
We use Flickr mainly to find Creative Commons-licensed photos that can illustrate scientific points in our articles.
We do, of course, return the favor: all the photos and artworks we've created for our site are also licensed under a Creative Commons License and some of our photos are also available here on Flickr. You're very welcome to use our photos for any noncommercial purpose, online or offline, providing you credit us - you don't need to ask permission first. You're welcome to remove the watermarks from our images providing you attribute them in any reasonable way (such as adding an equivalent credit in text underneath or nearby).
We can provide high-resolution (typically 3072 x 2304 pixel) versions of any of our photos for commercial use and we can often retake or modify photos to your precise requirements. We normally charge a licensing fee for this. Please contact us via our website for more details.
Our pictures aren't meant to be brilliantly creative or superb examples of photography; they're just supposed to make simple scientific points or show how things work.
