My name is Beth Young and I am a Sacramento, California-based landscape photographer passionate about capturing uplifting images of nature that endeavor to communicate the therapeutic effects of photography, both for the photographer and the viewer.
Through capturing exquisite light, design, and dynamics for enduring landscape images, I seek to create imagery that conjures feelings of hope, healing, and renewal with an emphasis on wellness and the human experience. By employing a palette of bright colors and warm light in the landscape, my work has been described as "Northern California Nostalgic".
Acutely aware of the impact that uplifting natural imagery can have on those in severely stressful surroundings, my passion is focused on creating nature photography for healthcare environments to help alleviate the stress of patients, their families and caregivers, provide positive distraction, and improve patient outcomes in clinical settings.
When I found myself going through treatment for cancer, it reinforced the importance of healing imagery in healthcare environments and my conviction to produce these images for the benefit of others. Through that experience, I gained a greater appreciation of the impact positive imagery can have on someone with limited mobility, illness, or undergoing treatment in a stressful environment. That appreciation led to a framework, a guiding principle to my photography.
My work is featured in hospitals, clinics, cancer centers, psychiatric facilities and elder care communities throughout California and beyond for such clients as Dignity Health, Kaiser Permanente, UC Davis Medical Center, Sutter Health, and more.
