I'm always striving for that "HOLY SHIT!!!" shot....that one moment where nothing exists but me and my subject. I tend to become very obsessed with one subject at a time until I get....and then never wanna take that photo again....what's next? I'm an avid experimenter as well....you never know what will come of a whim or a mistake. And one last note...I often find that there are 2 different kinds of photographers, recorders and interpreters. The recorders try to capture some exactly as it is, they will take a photo of a rose...exactly how everyone expects to see it. Interpreters will take a photo of a rose as THEY see it and then share their interpretation with you. Both are equally important. I tend to fall into the latter group...my philosophy is that a good piece of art should give you a different perspective on the subject. If you wanna to see a rose, go look at one.
