Oct '22: I am still around! It's been a tough last few years! I'm trying to get back now to focus on my life, i.e. fresh air, photos, etc! but pls be patient with me! it'll be a very long road!
A major fustula op, problem dialysis, a kidney transplant, a long recovery, made worse with a bout of recurring covid a year in. I've now been left with a smorgasboard of conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, osteoarthritis, chronic back pain & the lasting impact of renal failure as well as now living with no immune system! Yes, my life has been stuffed through the proverbial (what feels like a very real at times) mangle many, many times over, I trust you can forgive my focus on just coping with life' adjusting to having no energy' extreme pain at times & with no medical solutions, treatments is left down to ourselves. So, rather than posting photos at the moment much of my time is taken up doing (or failing to do) the basics around the house! As I get a better grip (that's NOT getting better, just handling it better) I want to be able to come back here more often!
Meantime the council has been trying to evict me for what seems suspicious reasons (in the middle of a pandemic!) & the isolation needed for those of us immunocompromised, the lack of travel, indeed inability to go anywhere, only compounds it. Though that is now resolved & the council doing what they should have done in the first place & make adaptations to help me (also a long road!) I'm so exhausted I can't fully concentrate on anything after I've dealt with all the other things! Some days it's all I can do to focus enough to make it through alive! I hope you'll understand that despite photos being a great love & something that can keep me going, sometimes it's just beyond me & I can't afford to push my body! If I don't update groups, or my photostream, pls don't give up on me! I am fighing back but this will be a long slow climb, even to be able to sit & look at a screen for a time to sort photos! Pls be patient!
I've always loved two things, photography and travel. All through secondry school I was to be found in the darkroom at school. I started out with a Zenit B (progressed to an EM later). Later on, I got a taste for travel and now the two hobbies combine wonderfully. The best bit is it's a hobby where you can always learn!
Photos are more than just capturing a moment for me, they capture the mood of a place the feelings it evokes and I hope my shots convey that. If you enjoy them, I'm happy I've managed to bring a little ray of sunshine to someone else's day.
I freely admit to using other's photos to "scout out" somewhere before I plan a visit, even so far as points of interest or viewpoints to include or a scene that inspires me to get an even better shot myself.
If you are interested in using a photo of mine for a publication, please ask! I rarely say no. I have to lock the downloading due to abuse and that some of my photos are on sale (Any institutions or individuals using this site or any of its associated sites for studies or projects- You DO NOT have permission to use any of my profile or pictures in any form or forum both current and future. I've now started 5 groups, I'm hoping to give back in the way I've received inspiration from others by giving a place for others to show their work to inspire others. Here is some info on each:
Hopefully long after we've gone, our photos will continue to stir and inspire others, what better legacy!
And apart from that, It's just great fun to get out with a camera and search out something special, something different.
And some other grops I admin:
