A resident of the city of Canberra, my goal is to photograph any mature Eucalyptus melliodora (Yellow Box) trees in the city for posterity.

 

Addendum: the scope of the project has been extended to include other native Eucalypts of Canberra, starting with Eucalpytus blakelyi (Blakely's Red Gum) and Eucalyptus bridgesiana (Apple Box).

 

These are woodland trees, that existed mostly on the lower slopes, which are now suburbia. The following links contain a lot of good information on the Yellow Box-Red Gum Grassy Woodland ecological community:

This project is undertaken for the purposes of capturing the inherent beauty of a part of the natural world that still exists within an urbanised area and also as an attempt to raise awareness of this, which is, for the most part, overlooked.
