Estrella Payton is an artist based out of Tempe, Arizona. She was born in Puerto Rico, but raised in Kansas City, Missouri which offered her a unique cultural and artistic background. She earned her BFA in printmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute and is currently in her second year of MFA graduate studies at Arizona State University.

Her work often involves several layers of traditional printmaking techniques, such as relief and silkscreen printing, plus hand-drawn elements. Much of her work features organic imagery that implies movement and growth based on her interest and study of rhizomes and cellular illustrations. She is curious about the elements of human physical anthropology as well as biological elements and unify and divide us, such as skin.
