But he who, having no touch of the Muses' madness in his soul, comes to the door and thinks that he will get into the temple by the help of art - he, I say, and his poetry are not admitted; the sane man disappears and is nowhere when he enters into rivalry with the madman.

Under Attack

Hi! Hello. Thanks for reading this.

I'm

E S P i O N

I started photography some 20 years ago before the days of auto focus, with a manual film SLR, the Minolta X300. But stopped after some time and the camera rusted away, literally.

Interest rekindled in the last 3 years when I got my hands on a cheap no-brand China-made digital camera. That cheap cam has distorted optics, not preserving the true proportions in a scene. It made some people looked better. :-)

Then got a Nikon E5700 digital camera and discovered flickr. Soon realised the cam's limitation and was thinking SLR again. Considering the Canon 350D until Olympus E500 dropped into the scene with its innovative Ultrasonic Wave cleaning system, low price, good reviews, and smaller lens with the four-thirds standards.

And today I have just used up 100G of hard disk space, something I never could dream possible! I need to do some serious housekeeping or maybe just go buy a 500G external HDD. And that will last me maybe 2 years?

My 100 most interesting pictures according to flickr are here.

My flickrInspector score is 3377

And from flickrInspector I found some of pictures ending up in blogs:

Beneath the Surface by Matthew Hollinsworth

Did you bring me my dinner? by Oh My Cats

I met Lawrence on my first Flickr meetup in Singapore. I'd already been impressed by his photostream even then, and felt privileged that I could now put a face to the name. At the time, he told me that there are many, many attempts behind every good picture. That may be so - but he gets many, many good pictures. I … Read more

A very interesting personality with whom one can talk about the world, espion is indeed one dedicated to the art. When one speaks to him, I am sure they can easily see and feel that this soul is one who really seeks knowledge - consistently and thoroughly. His approach to photography is to me, rather relaxed and laid-back, and I really envy that, for I would think that it takes a certain amount of self-control and mastery to display such. He has taught me a lot, and I definitely have a lot more to learn from him. The best part about all this is that you don't even realise that you're being taught because of his earnestness and sincerity, it is only after everything that you realise that he has so much to offer - and has offered it so warmly. Thanks for everything - my friend! =)
