About Frank Moore

Frank Moore was an American performance artist, shaman, teacher, poet, essayist, painter, musician, and internet/television personality who experimented in art, performance, ritual, and shamanistic teaching from the late 1960s until his death in 2013 in Berkeley, California.

 

Moore was born with cerebral palsy, could not walk or talk. Moore communicated using a laser-pointer and a board of letters, numbers, and commonly used words and typed with a head pointer.

Frank Moore, his collaborators and their legacy is worth preserving and Eroplay contributes to such. Many moons ago, when I first stumbled upon their work, I wasn't sure I could handle the off-beatness, the wildness, the candor, the fun, the beautiful ugliness... But when it had sunk in, it freed me and it helped me shed my shyness, made me able to show my body and my sexuality more freely. I have done a dozen or so 'performances' (I say humbly) at art openings, well into my sixties. I couldn't have done this, owing, in part, to Frank and his people.
