I have a serious problem :-( My occupation as an entomologist at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History (Reykjavik, Iceland) and my hobby, enjoying nature, is just about the same thing. That means I never stop working and I am also constantly on vacation! Yes, believe me, it can be a problem!

I have been employed at the Institute since 1 January 1978 after performing doctoral studies at Lund University, Sweden. I have taken part in various scientific research projects, being specially proud of having had an important role in monitoring the colonization of life on the young volcanic island Surtsey off the south coast of Iceland, all since the early years of its existence.

I have been interested in photographing nature for a long time. During the last years I have spent considerable time on shooting photos of Icelandic plant and animal species. They have been sought after by publishers and authors of books and articles on nature.

Till November 2009 I used a Nicon Coolpix 4500 camera, which was then replaced by Canon EOS 450D with a zoom lence EF-S 18-200mm and a macro EF 100mm 1:2.8M.
