Growing up, I'm sure I drove my mom a little crazy filling up her snazzy point and shoot camera with photo upon photo of a single flower I found somewhere in the yard. Hundreds of them. Or when I would stop every 2 minutes to snap a picture and remain in that place for 15 minutes while she wanted to go on a walk. A half-hour adventure could turn in to a two-hour ordeal. I fell in love with this little device capable of capturing what my eyes could see, and if I used it just right, could capture something even more beautiful. Despite my love for photography, I never thought I should pursue it. Instead, I decided to focus on photography’s sibling, videography. With my love of storytelling and my eye for photography, videography was my natural calling to pursue as a career. Now as a two-time Emmy winner, I think about the only reason I landed my first job – I could run a camera. And why could I run a camera? Because of the hundreds of photos of flowers I found in my backyard.
