I am a thirty-something-year-old undergraduate student with a double major in Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Studies (with a focus on international popular culture) in her final year of study at the University of California, Berkeley. In the spring of 2011, myself and two other women made a documentary called "Saudade" that examines Brazilian cultural heritage through the sharing of food. It looked at a small group of Brazilians living in the San Francisco Bay Area. For my Senior Thesis for the Fall 2011-Spring 2012 school year, I will be independently expanding on that film to include Brazilians living in different cities around the United States including Austin, Texas; Denver, Colorado; New York City, New York; Miami, Florida; and Los Angeles, California. I will start filming in Summer 2011. As part of this undertaking I will be keeping a virtual journal/blog that includes photos from this Flickr account as I traverse the country and attempt to capture Brazilian cultural food heritage on film.
