Eliott Erwitt, a French photographer has said, “To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” In this modern age of global information technology, everything is practically at your fingertips. With a click of a button, the world is in your hands. Everyday, with our busy and harried lives, we are constantly bombarded with information and images from the internet, television, radio, and the print media, consciously and subconsciously. Our brains get saturated and overwhelmed that it can handle only so much. We become detached, desensitized, oblivious to the world around us. And worst, our voracious appetite for the new, the avant garde, the next "it", the latest gadgets and must-have, the hippest trends and attitudes, have catapulted the "ordinary" to oblivion.
Photography has taught me to open my eyes and appreciate the beauty around us. It is the simple things... the small things that at first glance, appears mundane and trivial. But on second glance, the dew on a flower becomes magical and a world of it's own, a blade of grass with it's vibrant greens inspires zen and well-being, sun rising over the horizon offering a glimmer of hope and how about a bird soaring above the heavens reaching it's hopes and dreams. Even a commonplace street sign, a beat-up truck, a dilapidated building, a graffiti wall, you can find beauty and form. Essentially, in the right light, composition, and a little bit of imagination, the "ordinary" becomes extraordinary. Captured frame by frame... for all eternity.
These are collections of pictures I took of varying subjects over the last five years. I am an amateur photographer with so much to learn. Each day is new discovery and a learning experience. Imogen Cunningham, an American photographer, was asked, what was her favorite picture she took. She answered, "It's the picture I'm going to take tomorrow." It is after all, a work in progress. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I've enjoyed taking them. So go out there, carpe diem! Leave your computers, tablets, phones and living rooms. Stop and smell the flowers. Sometimes that's all you need...a second glance to realize that the simplest things are the ones that bring so much joy. Let it envelope you and bring you to new heights.

Hello Eric! I have seen your name on flickr long before we became contacts and I say, your images made an impression on me, yes, long before we became contacts. Those wonderful images that pop out of the screen, with clean and simple lines; and heartwarming color or old-tyme monotones. Did I already tell you that the lines in songs you use on your captions would sometimes remind me of you when I hear them play? You are not afraid to try new things with your photographs and at the same time you keep that homely feeling in between, like the story about Mom's broken Lladro figurines. But altogether, you got the flair in whatever you capture. And I look up to you for inspiration too.
