Thanks for stopping by and welcome! Some of you already know me as E.Payne, the Dad with the constantly-evolving Plan over at Makes Me Wanna Holler - Man, Dad, Husband.
This is something different...something new.
As long as I can remember I've always had a thing for cameras. Depending on how old you are, you might remember the days of shooting with film and having to wind the camera to advance to the next frame after each shot. Or using a flash until it completely burned itself out, literally. Since my youngest days I can remember my father being the facilitator behind my little hobby, while he took himself much more seriously with grown-man 35mms. All the way through my twenties I've always had a yearning to take that "perfect picture", if there ever could be such a thing.
Now we're in the digital age and upon the birth of my daughter I bought a new camera. My father was so impressed with the little shots I captured with my shiny new Canon SD8880IS that he once again fed what he saw in me that I didn't see in myself. Last year he sent me my first and only DSLR to date, a Canon Rebel XT (a toy he never really enjoyed using). The first time I turned it on I thought I had activated a remote control for a spaceship. I had no idea what to do and I wasn't sure I wanted to find out. I remember confessing to a photographer I admire very much that I was scared of it and he promised me that once I got the hang of things I'd never look back.
Fast forward a year and although I'm still rocking with my Canon Rebel XT I've outfitted it with a whole new set of lenses and developed what I'd call a legitimate knack for DSLR photography thanks to the generosity and graciousness of a short list of photographers for more gifted than I. I've been told I have an eye for the timeless. Maybe so. I'll let you be the judge.
These are a few of the things that inspire, excite and challenge me. Some are bland, some are beautiful.
These are my photos.
