Eowyn was forbidden by her father King Theoden to join the battle against Sauron and was instead told to stay behind with the other wimmin and chillen. However, she opted to disobey her father and went to war instead, which is a darn good thing because she ended up killing the Witch King himself. In fact, if it wasn't for Eowyn, we'd probably all be slaves now to the Great Eye. Also, she takes really nice pictures of birds.
