Emily Stern

Photography student at a liberal arts college in New York shooting mainly on a Nikon Fm and a Mamiya 7 ii. I have been in photography classes for almost 6 years. Most of my photos were taken in New York and the Pacific North West. A majority of the images are from scanned negatives but I also print my own photos in both black & white and color. I use a Nikon D60 for my digital photographs.

My work is primarily about depicting and evoking emotion and displaying a sense of wonderment. I approach a photograph as one would approach a piece of writing, using symbolism of lone objects, emptiness and quality of light to create an atmosphere within the frame.
