I am 18 years old and studying the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at The Arts University College At Bournemouth.
Life in general inspires my creative flare on a day to day basis. I see things that any normal person would dismiss. I often find myself getting excited when I discover new ways to express myself more freely, and develop my work.
Actively engaging within the community has boosted my connection with the world around me and reflects in my work as committed illustrator. I would love to study Illustration at degree level to build up my level of experience, practical knowledge and skill, to prepare myself for a career within the creative industry.
Watercolour and ink are a personal and expressive tool within my work. The contrast between the bold line and soft colour intensify my imagination for fashion designs and flowing fabrics. I am greatly inspired by the work of Kathryn Elyse, of whom I have been following for the past year or so. She captures the essence of time and the world around her within one illustration, and is simply beautifully aesthetic. Other illustrators that intensify my passion are Charles Anastase, David Downtown and Jane Kurisu. I believe that my personal and professional work represent a way of observing and understanding the world around me, questioning social or global topics, and expressing them through intellectual curiosity and experimentation. I am greatly interested and affected by the natural disasters that globally affect us as humans. I read newspapers such as the daily mail and the times on a regular basis to feed my appetite for knowledge on environmental changes and occurrences. I am able to feed this information and personal emotions into my work, conveying stories, feelings and visual interpretations. I have recently attended the national art gallery and the royal academy of arts, where I was able to explore a variety of works. This enabled me to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for art, and how it can express concerns, conceptions, and passions as an artist.
