Emily has a remarkable talent for finding the soul of her subject and amplifying it in her photographs. It's similar to seeing buds turn into blossoms when spring arrives--just out of nowhere, "Wow, look at that, has that amazing thing been there the whole time?" Her photographs of people are astounding for the way she explores the living breathing heart of her subjects. Sometimes I have the experience that these are not actually still images, because there is far too much life and energy on display for them to be stills. She makes the everyday beautiful, and she makes the beautiful transcendent.
