I aspire to say what Eggleston said. "I am at war with the obvious." But I have maybe flirted with what Warhol said: "Art is what you can get away with."

My work has appeared on and in books, as well as CD sleeves. Sometimes I'm in a professional role, but otherwise I'm a generalist more interested in people than most other subjects. Landscapes and other genres appeal to me largely as abstract compositions.

I've known Eric Marc Crawford for a long time, and I've watched his photography evolve from perceptive and accomplished to the realms of significant artistic achievement. He's a multidisciplinary artist and thinker tempered by a sense of humor and an awareness of his own limitations, whose interests and ambitions as a photographer are nevertheless almost without boundaries. His passions and sympathies are evident in the organization of his work: his family, his musical interests, the natural world, architecture and design, and women of all ages - among many others. But apart from their technical excellence and their endless variation, the central distinguishing characteristic of his images is the humanity that he reveals - in his subjects, as well as his own. I don't feel connected to every picture but they're endlessly interesting and revealing, often incredibly beautiful, and they invariably leave me wanting to experience more of his great work.
