My name is Patty Sullivan and I live in a small town in Connecticut with my husband, two young kids, and a rescue lab/retriever mix named Yankee. He’s my shadow. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom since having my kids and fell into jewelry making shortly after my first child was born.
I had purchased a mother's bracelet with my daughters name and wanted to get another one when I had my son. After many failed attempts to contact the person who made my first bracelet, I decided to "just do it myself"! Well, I got hooked (my husband would say obsessed)! I couldn't believe how much fun and relaxing it was to bead. So, I made mother's bracelets for my entire family and I began reading beading magazines, taking classes, and searching endlessly online for beads. I was ebaying, yahooing…you name it.
My husband suggested that I start my own jewelry business (you can thank him for the name too) and I was off. Not only did jewelry design become a hobby, but also my outlet. With this fast-paced and stressed world (work, family, my children, a house), I found that when I was designing jewelry, I was relaxed and felt free of life's everyday stresses. This hobby has developed into a creative release and somewhat of an obsession.
After all the years working in corporate America, I have finally found what I'm meant to do with my life professionally. I feel blessed to have a loving family and friends that support me, and give my life balance. I couldn't have done it without all of you and I am forever grateful.
In my previous life, I worked as a marketing manager for a software company. I admit, that I do miss the constant challenges, the interaction with coworkers, and the creative outlet it provided me.
I’ve always felt the need to be creative. I used to sing and play music, make crafts with my mom, and bake with my grandmother. I wrote my first song at age 8 called Clydesdales (my favorite horses), and played the flute and saxophone through college. Music still fills my house today and I can be caught singing in my car on a regular basis.
Being a mom to TWO young kids is very demanding and takes up quite a bit of time as you can only imagine. Not only is it the best job I’ve ever had, it’s the hardest and most fulfilling. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. We recently added Yankee to our home and he has filled our home with much joy. I have a soft spot for animals and always have. They fill our hearts in ways that nothing else can.
