I am a wife and the mother of a grown son, who, as I was, is an art major. We live on the coast of Washington, on a peninsula about 8 miles long...so truly live 'at the end of the road'. We have an abundance of Pacific Coast Black-tail deer, raccoons, coyotes and black bears roaming our town and the brushy/forested areas all over our community. This summer we also have several cougars visiting. So far, none of the more 'carnivorous critters listed' have eaten any of our 3 million plus yearly visitors. For this, the city council is very grateful. (;?>) Not good for business when a tourist disappears. My husband and I live on a freshwater lake, one block from Grays Harbor (a large bay and seaport) and one mile inland from the Pacific Ocean. We can drive on our beaches for many miles northward. Our town has its own 'rainforest' and we are within a short drive of much larger rainforest areas here on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. We live in the heart of Sasquatch country...and I know a number of folks who claim to have see one in this area. Sasquatch comes from a word of one Native American tribe from this area. Another word for 'Bigfoot' is Skookemchuck, which comes from the Hoh Indian name for the 'hairy man of the forest'...and it is also the name of a river here on the Olympic Peninsula. I find this all very interesting...since these names go back to before recorded history. I keep wanting to shoot that ultimate photo...a good, clear shot of 'Bigfoot'!
