Amanda Xu is an IT Librarian for Information Artistry and Collection Management in Web Scale Architecture. As deep Web integration occurred across boundaries of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for higher education and academic libraries in the era of digital revolution of the 21st century; unlocked the silos of enterprise, platforms, apps, devices and browsers; and interleaved into the fabric of users’ teaching, learning and research experience in social, local, mobile, and Semantic Web, etc. presence, she has been working actively with the challenges with academic and industry thought leaders, particularly in regard to library e-resource metadata management since its inception.
Her successful tracking records of professional activities reflected the turning points of academic librarianship, particularly in regard to meeting the challenges by providing strategies and solutions to rejuvenate the profession, and live up to the i) ever rising expectations of library user communities in increasingly shrinking budget and ii) demand for alignment of institutional effectiveness with library budget and operational management through information technology. It’s another paradigm shift for academic and research libraries in the nation and around the world. She is one of the few librarians who not only understand the theory and its history in regard to electronic resource metadata management for research and academic libraries, and online information industry, but also are capable to refresh what have been done, and balance the forces of all involved constituents.
