Photography has always been something I have wanted to "enjoy" and for which I always felt frustrations. I bought my fist camera age 13 in the 80s with my first salary. I enjoyed it, so as to say, but then I realized that I could not afford to pay the films, the development and could not enjoy it anymore. Later in the 19s, I bought another camera fully automatic and it became some kind of easier. Still, developing the films was costly and I could only afford small format. I never practiced as I should have until I got my first digital camera but I only used it on automatic mode. Thirty five years later... I took classes. I was about to sell my Pentax K10D, wanted to give a farewell glance at my pictures and check online how I could improve them. I found a class about Lightroom, then took another class about photography and decided to keep my Pentax K10D. The photography about the cathedral of Chartres and the Abbaye of Clairmont made me feel some kind of "achievement". For sure I could improve, but it was not that bad and my Pentax was giving me the art touch that I liked, a grain, the softness of the colors, something easy to work with. I took more classes and bought another Pentax K10D in 2020. Don't ask, it is something about me to always buy twice the things that I like. The new camera was bought on eBay with a bunch of extra lenses. I never used them until recently when I decided to sell them. I checked them prices and tried to learn a bit more. I found that I had a little treasure, a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro. It is not that it is expensive, but the 50mm was good enough for street photography and it was a macro for close ups. I went a night outside to photography the sky and spent a couple hours to photography other things, at night, without the flash light. Here I found that I had made progress, my photos were brighter, less noisy and the colors more interesting, so I decided to keep both Pentax K10D and lenses, and maybe postpone my project to buy a mirrorless camera. After all, if I cannot make good photography with a Pentax K10D, I am not going to make good photography with a Fuji or a Sony. So I decided to start anew with the Pentax and go for street photography everyday, or almost everyday, force myself to keep a schedule. We are November 6, 2022 and I hope to keep this promise... for myself.
