"The world just does not fit conveniently into the format of a 35mm camera." - Eugene Smith
I've been living in the same city for almost 19 years of my life, and I feel as though I could spend an eternity here capturing all of the photographs that I want to. My main goal is to find the gems in this rustbelt town and bring them to others. I tend to find beauty in everything, and so my work is never done; from the broken down buildings by the train tracks, to the muddy grey river flowing through my back yard, to the never-ending surrounding woodlands.
Through the years I have been in and out of photography, but it has always been there in the back of my mind. Sometimes I will look at a landscape or an object and I will immediately see a photograph. I feel as though I cannot rest until I take the photograph, either. It has just always been a natural instinct of mine to share beauty with others, whether it was on a small or large scale.
I tend to be fascinated with the world around me. Ever since I can remember I have wandered off for hours on my own just surveying the world. Because of this tendency, I am prone to day dreaming...A lot. Some people call me spacey, but if they knew what was really going on in my head they would understand. For a while I wasn't sure if this was a blessing or not, but now I know it is one of the greatest aspects about myself.
I am most partial to photography because you can capture the natural world. I feel like other forms of art tend to distort the world, and I just don't feel that that is right. Sometimes I do manipulate photographs, but for the most part I tend to leave them alone (simply just bumping up contrast or vibrance). Simplicity is always nice.
