My journey to photography began when I was quite young. While growing up I would constantly see great photo opportunities, but never had a camera with me. “I wish I had a camera” was a constant saying throughout my life. My first camera was a Nikon 5005 film camera that took me about 6 months of saving coins in a cherry jar to purchase. Taking my first set of photos with that camera changed my world and allowed me to capture those images that I had been seeing all my life.
In October 2007 I upgraded to a Nikon Digital SLR and have not stopped taking pictures since. Digital photography has increased my love for this craft ten-fold. My daily photo blog has been the motivation for continuing this craft and allowing me to show the world these images that I have been seeing all my life. Through this blog and through the lens I began to tell a story of my photographic journey.
Friends and family have been asking me to take photos of them in everyday situations and locations, and I began to really enjoy this form of photography called Lifestyle Portraiture. It’s a great way for me to tell other people’s stories through vivid emotional imagery.
It hasn’t stopped at portraits or sporting events. My fine art photography has won awards at the Orion Art Center. Also, my Electrical Engineering degree really allows me to understand the needs of manufacturing and product photography.
I enjoy the whole process of meeting people, learning their story, and being able to capture the emotions of the day or telling their story through the lens. Whether the story is told at a wedding, a party, a portrait shoot, or a sporting event, it fulfills my passion for being behind the camera.
