Eduard Weimar | MF Portraits, Cinematic Stories & GFX Tech Developer

Hi and welcome! I am a photographer focused on portraiture, historical reenactments, and street narratives. For me, every frame is an attempt to capture a genuine human character, a mood, or a fleeting moment that feels like a still from an untold movie. To achieve this cinematic aesthetic, I frequently rely on unconventional shooting methods, custom techniques, and my own technical processing workflows.

To bring these stories to life, I shoot with the 100MP Fujifilm GFX medium format system. To expand the capabilities of working with RAF files from 100-megapixel Fujifilm GFX cameras, I developed my own tool — RAF Parser & Binning Tool. The software performs pixel-by-pixel binning of 100MP frames into half-size, saving the result as a 16-bit TIF or EXR. I use this method selectively, as it drastically improves color purity and image flexibility (read below to learn more about how it works). Unlike standard resizing, which simply discards "extra" pixels, binning mathematically combines neighboring sensor pixels into a single super-pixel. While the resolution is reduced by half in each dimension, you gain a massive advantage: digital noise drops exponentially, while the real dynamic range in shadows, micro-contrast of textures, and — most importantly — color accuracy are significantly enhanced. This results in crystal-clear, incredibly "rich" 25-megapixel files (5832 × 4375) that are highly pliable for color grading.

This engineering approach allows me to capture noble organic textures and deep optical details without harsh digital sharpening. I spend a lot of time on custom color engineering and monochrome synthesis in GIMP, drawing inspiration from classic film stocks and vintage digital sensors like Kodak CCD or Leaf Aptus.
