I am currently a self-employed freelance Aviation Consultant, working primarily out of Exeter, and covering the SW of England. I have worked in aviation, mainly Airfield, Airline, Helicopter and flight training operations, for over 30 years. I provide private consultancy and technical support - helping to develop operations and systems, as well as writing manuals and procedures.

I bought my first digital compact in 2004, a Nikon Coolpix 3100, one of the best small cameras I think Nikon developed. However, I have only really just got back into SLR, or DSLR as it is now, photography properly since I sold my Nikon F80 back in 2004. Before that I had a Nikon F301, bought in 1986 - a great camera.

I was very kindly bought a secondhand Canon 350D for my birthday in 2009, and I mainly use this with the standard 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens. I still occasionally use compacts, Olympus Tough 6000, and the more recently purchased Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30 compact - the latter producing excellent results.I What an excellent compact camera. I am tending to use that more than the DSLR - so easy to pack, and carry with me. Tried a Nikon L18 and this was lousy - poor quality and a big disappointment.

I use Photoshop Elements 7, and still working my way around what it can do. Am learning by trial and error, plus have some useful input from a much more knowledgable other half. My early photos in my stream were basically tweaked using Piknik.

I am a confimed Kiwiphile - with family over in NZ and I would really love to relocate to work and live there. One day hopefully. Making do with all too infrequent visits, although 6 times in 8 years is not that bad I guess?

Always grateful for any advice, hints, tips and constructive criticism.
