Photography is a passion, but it is much more to me than handling the hardware and even understanding the technicalities of it. As a mentor of mine once said, "It comes from the heart and reflects pure love." There is a strong element of emotionality to recording even the most mundane aspects of our existence. I don't like to think of it as a "hobby" but very much an extension and expression of myself.
“Rhythm is the basis of life, not steady forward progress. The forces of creation, destruction, and preservation have a whirling, dynamic interaction.”

In our lifetime we are occasionally drawn to a rare soul who inconspicuously shines from within . . . sometimes this connection happens through correspondence, without ever having met in person. This phenomenon is hard to describe, but when one senses a natural warmth when viewing images, words and poetry which radiate the beauty of our sacred earth . . . well, this *peaceful feeling* is akin to nature in all its glory. My words really don't do justice to what can only be felt when viewing the sensitive imagery found on Tanya's stream. I haven't written a testimony in years, since precious pearls are few and far between. I've known Tanya through flickr since I first joined back in 2006, and have corresponded not all that frequently, but consistently. A copy of her beautiful book stays by my bedside at all times . . . when we finally meet, face-to-face, I know we'll be speechless at first. Silence is golden. Blessings to you, dear Tanya. Thanks for your precious friendship.

I met Tanya 5 or 6 days after I joined Flickr. She sent me a note of welcome and we became mutual contacts and good friends. Her comments, tips and advice have helped me to grow and gain confidence in my skills and abilities as a photographer. She has been a true mentor. Tanya has an excellent “eye” for composition and detail. Her philosophy of “less is more” is reflected in much of her work. In her photostream you will find everything from delightful animals to colorful abstracts to poignant B&W portraits of nature and more. Spend some time exploring her “stream”, read the titles and descriptions she puts with many of her images. Think about the message she is communicating. Do this and you will come away, as I always do, feeling renewed and refreshed by the rhythms of the earth.
