From the first time I looked through a macro lens, I was photographically hooked. Since that day in 1977, I have devoted most of my spare time in the pursuit of the "ultimate image" - and fortunately have yet to take it.
My journey has led me to writing and publishing in various magazines, lecturing at numerous camera clubs, and a career in wedding, aerial and product photography.
In 1999 this fascination in image making brought me to the Dundas Valley School of Art, where I took numerous courses in drawing and painting, and ultimately, the opening of a gallery. Photography remains for me the vehicle for my art inspiration.

You are an amazing wildlife photographer. Your bird pictures are excellent. Thank you for sharing your photos in flickr.
Earl has the eye of an artist and that shows in his work. It gives his bird photographs that little something extra that makes them stand out from the crowd. I enjoy his work tremendously.

It is not hyperbole when I state that in Ontario, Canada Earl is legendary in the bird photographer community. And mostly for the right reasons. The fact of the matter is- he is good at this hobby. He excels at it because he is passionate about birds and very much enjoys the hunt for a different bird or the perfect shot. But many of us share those traits. What sets Earl apart from most, and I have seen it first hand, is his drive to be the best. He is a perfectionist. The perfect perch. The perfect light. The perfect composition. And he never stops. Sometimes when I am shooting with him he wears me out, but I love it because he pushes me to be better. For all of us who follow him on Flickr, it is a pleasure to see what he will post next. For those of us who have the privilege to shoot with him, we benefit from the unselfish way he shares his knowledge and experience. As his friend, I gladly recommend his photostream to you.

I discovered Earl's photography by rooting around on Flickr. HIs talents go deeper than most, as anyone can tell. Recently, I finally discovered his art. It explains a lot... Earl has an amazing eye for the moment, regardless of the subject- family, farm animals, the wild life around him. This eye for composition, movement, color and meaning is reflected in all the work he does. I am enriched for having stumbled upon his work, and entertained by the occasional rent which is the conduit through which Earl transfers bits of wisdom to the masses. We have however as much chance to reach this level of skill as we do to play in the NFL. Some things you are just born with and no rent (or wild life knowledge) will get you there. Enjoy the portfolio! Thanks for posting!!

Earl and I have been shooting together for several years now, and I have to say I admire his tenacity at getting the shot "no matter what it takes", his knowledge of wildlife behavior (which has garnered shots that no one else could get without knowing those little things, like how often a Pileated Woodpecker will fly back to it's nest), and I know what no one else knows, namely, he's got thousands of great shots that he doesn't get around to posting because he's so D*mn busy shooting. Bottom line: He's good and he knows how to wield a camera..
